Sephiria Hard Mode Guide

Unlock Root’s Retreat, choose modifiers that fit your build and collect talent rewards without skipping uncleared tiers.

Find Root’s Retreat

To unlock Hard Mode, clear Chapter 2, talk to the Tree and choose the Hard Mode conversation. Once unlocked, use the object near the entrance to configure Root’s Retreat. This replaced the older free-node route in update 0.7.55.

If you have already completed Chapter 4 and the unlock conversation is unavailable, check Destiny Inscription: update 0.10.5 added a recovery entry for that specific missing-unlock case.

Read the penalty before adding tiers

Select modifiers around the build you can actually assemble. Read the current values in Root’s Retreat; the examples below explain the type of penalty, not a fixed cost or a universal easiest combination.

  • Tension prevents potion use during boss combat. Do not plan to recover with a potion in that fight.
  • Decline reduces healing effects; Deterioration reduces healing on level-up. Check which recovery your route uses.
  • Dizziness reduces artifact and tablet choices. Routes that need a specific reward have less room to find it.
  • Heavy Heart occupies space with an artifact that has no ability and cannot be discarded. Plan your bag around it.

Collect rewards without skipping clears

The menu warns that clearing a higher tier does not award rewards for earlier tiers you have not cleared. Follow the uncleared tiers in order if you want every reward, and inspect the next-reward indicator before departure.

Talent milestones award 1 point at each multiple of 3 through 30, then 2 at 35, 3 at 40 and 5 at 50: 20 points in total. These are progression rewards, not a repeatable point farm.

Prepare for the modifier you chose

Save an affordable talent setup, check the starting item and read the build’s required weapon branch before increasing difficulty. If a modifier removes your healing, inventory space or combo engine, change the modifier or the build before entering.
