Build identity
A community build list pairs Staff with Grimoire. Official historical notes also show that Grimoire MP cost is a supported artifact interaction, which makes resource efficiency a reasonable constraint to watch rather than an invented mechanic.
Decision rule
Use Staff as the anchor and evaluate Grimoire choices by whether the run can sustain their MP demand. Rylie's Pocket Watch has an official historical record of gaining a Grimoire MP Cost reduction effect, but its current complete values still need an in-game check.

How to pilot it
Cast from a safe lane, preserve enough MP for the next dangerous room and add Grimoire effects only when the current regeneration or cost reduction can support them. Treat resource uptime as the first damage multiplier; an empty MP bar turns the route into a weak basic Staff.
Fallbacks
If Grimoire support does not appear, keep general spell damage and MP economy that still benefit Staff, then pivot toward the strongest elemental package already in the run. Do not retain narrow Grimoire-only pieces solely to preserve the build name.
Limits
The sources do not establish a complete optimal list or current damage comparison. Keep this route community-labelled until a reproducible version 1.0.21 run is recorded.
